BREATHER in Antique Dolls and some Modern Dolls
In antique doll terminology, a “breather” doll refers to a doll whose head has actual pierced holes for the nostrils, rather than the more common painted red dots or other painted features. The term is used because the small holes give the doll a “breathing” or lifelike appearance, as if it could actually inhale and exhale.
CUTTING and SIZING DOLL EYES.
In doll making, eye sizing refers to determining the correct diameter and proportions of doll eyes. Cut each eye socket nearly to the edge of the eye shape marked by the mold and continue with final eye shape and beveling.
Open Mouth
Cutting the mouth to be open for looks, or insert a finger, a small object, or a prop for display.
